Release Notes: June 2019
The June product update released, includes new features and enhancements to existing features. New with this release is an Insights Dashboard with several reports important to monitoring the financial health of your practice. This update introduces a new method for manually locking transactions, and several hotkeys have been added for Perio charting.
Reports
The Home menu has been rearranged slightly. For example, Outstanding Claims is now under Insurance and Billing Statements is under Home. But the big new is the addition of the Insights link. The new Insights page is a group of key reports.
Each of the hyperlinks opens a new or updated version of a Power Report. Each report has been optimized help you answer questions that typically get asked by consultants, accountants, or auditors about different aspects of your business.
Many of the reports have enhanced data visualization, with the addition for example of trend arrows, or by default appearing as a line or a pie chart.

Billing
A new transaction locking option has been added to the Ledger Rules. The relative date lock (transactions older than X days) has been shifted down, and in its former place is a calendar display of what that date actually is (it updates automatically when you change and save the relative days number). If you set the lock date manually, this field shows that date, and the relative days number is grayed out.
You now have the option to set the lock by date rather than relative days. Once you select Manually initiate transaction lock as of a specified date, go to Settings Lock Transactions to pick the date.
Locking transactions by this method has an important implication, which is that you will return to move that date sometime later. By default the utility assumes a one-month interval; the next time you open Lock Transactions it will pre-populate a New transaction lock date with the date one month from the last lock date.
To invoke and use manual transaction locks you must have the new Move transaction lock date forward or Move transaction lock date backward access rights.
Mandatory Tags for Credit Card Payments
This update adds predefined default mandatory tags for Credit Card Payment types when Tag restriction rules are turned on. The tags are VISA, American Express, Discover and MasterCard.
For more information about payment and adjustment tags, how they work and how they are applied, watch Payment and Adjustment Tagging in the Dentrix Ascend Feature Videos section of the Resource Center.
Patient Information
Primary Guarantor
The Patient Information page Related Patients tab has a new enhancement to the guarantor information. From any patient record you can now see all the account members for that patient’s primary guarantor.
Clinical
Perio Charting
The ability to record Pocket Depth and Gingival Margin in one script has been added to the Perio Chart. Additionally, new hotkeys have been added to make charting super-efficient for users who like keyboard shortcuts.
- To change the tooth navigation script press Shift + 1, 2, or 3
- To indicate bone loss press L + 0, 1, 2, or 3
- To indicate mobility press M + 0, 1, 2, or 3
- For furcation grade press F + 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4
Underlined letters provide hotkey hints.
Scheduling
The Calendar Print format has been modified to print in landscape format by default so that more operatories can fit on the page.
User Rights Updates
As a new feature of the software release notes, from this point onward the notes will contain this section, which summarizes all the changes to user access rights in this update.
- Added a new user right (Patient Procedures Edit patient procedure amount) to prevent or allow users to change the amount of a procedure when it is posted.
- Added two new user rights (Settings Move transaction lock date forward and Move transaction lock date backward) for moving the transaction lock date forward or backward.
Imaging
iPad Acquisition
This update adds the ability to acquire extraoral images (2D oral/facial photos, D0350), using an iPad device.
Drag and drop is not an option with an iPad so to make image assignments once you capture them you must first tap an image and then tap the assignment area. IMPORTANT: This is supported only via Safari, not on Chrome. The acquisition mode includes a shortcut that enables you to tap the screen rather than the button to make the capture.
Recapture Enhancement
When you view recaptured images, they now have a timestamp and the total number of recaptured images for the mount. The current image also has a timestamp.
