If a patient's medical alert is no longer applicable, to keep the medical alert in the patient's record but have it be inactive, you can mark it as expired.
To expire a patient's medical alert
How to get there
Use the Patient Search box to access a patient's record.
Notes:
If the last patient record you accessed since you last logged on is the correct patient's record, you do not need to re-enter the patient's name in the Patient Search box.
You can include inactive patients in the search results by setting the Include inactive patients switch to On.
Do one of the following:
While viewing any page of a patient's record, if the patient has any medical alerts, the Medical Alerts icon in between the Patient tab and the Patient Search box is a red plus sign. Click (or tap) the Medical Alerts icon.
The Patient Information page opens with the Medical Alerts tab selected.
The Medical Alerts box displays any medical alerts that have been entered for the patient.
Do one of the following:
Select a medical alert.
Skip step 1.
Do one of the following:
On the Medical Alerts tab of a patient's Patient Information page, click (or tap) a medical alert's Expire button. Ignore step 2.
On the Medical Alerts tab of a patient's Patient Information page, select a medical alert.
The Edit Medical Alert dialogue box appears.
Do one of the following:
If the Permanent condition check box is selected, clear it to make the Expire button available. Click (or tap) Expire and then Save.
Then, on the message that appears, click (or tap) Expire.
Note: You can view expired medical alerts from the Medical Alerts tab of a patient's Patient Information page by setting Show expired to On.
