The Basic Periodontal Examination (BPE) is a standard, rapid screening tool that you can use to assess patients and indicate the level of examination and treatment required. Careful assessment of the periodontal tissues is an essential component of patient management, and the BPE may determine if an additional examination is needed. In the UK, a BPE must be completed annually for every patient.
