Overview:
If you are completing a regulation 11 appliance replacement, or your patient has an exemption, you can customise the NHS Claim value accordingly.
- Regulation 11 Appliance Replacement: As per the NHS, the patient will pay 30% of the band 3 (per appliance) charge even if they do not normally pay. (30% will always be rounded down to the nearest ten pence if there's an odd pence)
- HC3 Exemption: The patient will pay up to the contribution amount stated on their HC3 certificate.
- Other Exemptions: A patient with other exemptions will receive NHS dental services free of charge.

Customising an NHS Claim Charge:
After creating and saving a claim, re-enter the claim and click on the Total NHS Charge value.
You will see a warning appear.
Type in the new charge, then click the Customise button to save.
The claim will be saved and you'll return to the NHS Claim tab. You will notice the Charge column will show you the updated Total and Invoiced amount
Any previously invoiced procedures will be canceled, and a new invoice created for ALL completed procedures, at the customised value you have entered.
If required, you may go back and edit the custom charge again.
Free of Charge Treatment:
Scenario: The patient has an exemption and receives NHS services free of charge.
Add 0 as the Total NHS Charge Value and click Customise.
The claim will be saved and you'll return to the NHS Claim tab. You will notice the Charge column will show you the updated Total and Invoiced amount of £0
In the ledger, the previously created £50 invoice will be canceled and a new invoice of £0 created
